Yes, this was belatedly conceived.  But no matter – many of Foxfield’s female attendees pay extra care when getting dressed for the event, so this should still work out.  It’s our first ever Foxfield Best Dressed Contest!

Basically, I’ll be making the rounds at the event, perusing for gals who are well dressed.  I’m not looking for anything specific – I imagine there will be a sea of dresses and big hats, but not necessarily limiting the choices to that look.  I (and maybe with some help from friends) will be selecting some fashionistas as finalists for the contest.

Finalists photos will be displayed on the blog next week.  We’ll have a week-long public vote to determine who is best dressed!  The lucky lady with the most votes wins a $30 gift certificate from Jean Theory!

Last month I met up with Rachel and Patrick just as they were heading out to have their engagement session with Katie of Katie Stoops Photography. First off, I don’t think the “Daisy Duke” variety is appropriate at all, unless you’re working out or at the beach.  That is just a personal opinion though.  Secondly, they don’t flatter my thighs very well.  I do have long legs for my height, but my hips are just too wide for these straight cuts that seem dominate the marketplace.  And thirdly, I’m quickly approaching 30 and short-shorts are just not going to be appropriate, period.

I think long shorts tend to get a bad rap, so I’ve put together some looks that demonstrate that you can make them look fantastic!  The key to all these looks is tucking in the top, of course.
