Florsheim Kids Shoes {Review & Giveaway}

I’ve been looking for some stylish and dressy shoes for boys for my son.  Something that looks sharp and respectable, but isn’t too stuffy.  Comfort is key in addition to a flexible sole.

Most dressy boys’ shoes brands had very stiff soles (not good for kids’ feet), or they were too cheaply made and the uppers wore down too quickly.

Enter Florsheim Kids, and all my expectations were met–that’s no small task!

Florsheim has a long-standing reputation for creating quality footwear for men, and now they’ve opened up a new line just for boys.  These shoes are trendy, casual, and delightfully comfortable for growing feet.

We were thrilled to review a pair of the Kennett Jr in sand.  This retro suede saddle shoe style with contrast stitching is also available in gray multi, brown multi, and green (I almost went with the green Kennett Jrs!).

The sole is a flexible rubber or rubber like material that is easy to bend.  The suede upper is a little soft and I really had to let out the tautness on the shoestrings to help my son slip his foot into the bed of the shoe, but once on, they were a perfect fit.  We also ordered a size up so there is still room to grow without crunching toes.

The Kennett Jr shoes sat visible on our family room all-purpose shelf for a week before I was able to take my son outside on a sunny day for a photo shoot.  He prefers to be barefoot or wearing sandals, so it wasn’t his top priority to dress up and stuff his feet into socks (that was the biggest objection) and shoes.  But, once he was dressed up and feeling rather spiffy, he was rather pleased with himself and he did like the shoes.  In fact, he didn’t want to take them off.

My almost five year-old son is excited to dress up in his Kennett Jr. shoes for church–he’s hoping for compliments from the ladies.

florsheim kids logoAt $50 or $55 a pair, I think this is a very competitive price for a high quality, well-designed and styled shoe for boys.  Even though we received a sample pair for review, I would invest in a future pair as my son continues to grow.  My husband loved the style and wished they were available in his size!

If you’re in love with the Kennett Jr. or any of the other rad styles offered at Florsheim Kids, today is your lucky day!  Florsheim Kids is partnering with us to offer one reader a $60 gift certificate to Florsheim Kids.  You can pick whatever style suits your child’s fancy!  Hooray for giveaways!

Gluten-Free Pizza Creation Party Day {Review + Giveaway}

Do you like pizza? I kind of love it.  Going gluten-free (or mostly gluten-free) meant we needed to go without pizza.  It didn’t take long after eating a few slices when I’d feel all stomach-achey and horrible awful the next day.  The trouble with making something gluten-free is that in order to make something stretchy [...]

Run Little Feet – UmiSport {Review}

Daily, our son let’s us know how much he’s grown and how big he’s getting by measuring up his height in comparison to ours.  He dreams of being a big kid and he associates the time when he’s old enough to make his own decisions is when he’s a daddy one day. Kindly, our four [...]

Hot Tunes for Cooking Italian

We like eating Italian food, especially in the chilly and precipitous months of winter.  When cooking, it’s almost equally essential to have the right cooking soundtrack playing.  Have you heard Zaccheri Gray’s self-titled album release?  OK, maybe you’ve heard the tune “Straight Up” made famous by Paula Abdul, but have you heard an acoustic guitar [...]
