First Fridays kicks off the weekend with a bang. All the galleries on and around the downtown mall open their doors to showcase what’s hot in art right now. This is a free event and is as cool as it gets. Add on dinner at a hot downtown restaurant (like Tempo) and it is a memorable evening! Make it a luxurious weekend with an Omni add on and it will be unforgettable.
You can’t go wrong with a fun Easter Egg hunt on Easter weekend. The two we know of are at Carter Mountain (complete with stunning views of the Charlottesville area) and another in combination with the Tulip Festival – a showcase of spring beauty complete with an Easter Bunny.
And finally – City Market opens for the season on Saturday. As always, you can expect farm-fresh goodness in all the produce, herbs and plants along with fresh meats and bakery items. With all of this Spring in the air, it also couldn’t hurt to brush up on golfing skills with a quick lesson or two.

North of Charlottesville, there is a Tulip festival going on and if my yard is any indication of the beauty that is out there, it is sure to be not only fun but a wonderful photo opportunity for fun family pictures. You may as well stop at DuCard Vineyards, while you are up that way.
Also, just in time for spring, the Local Food Hub is sponsoring a Beginning Bee Keeping Workshop. You can learn what it takes to have your own bee colony and have your own supply of honey.
Finally, postponed from last week, the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club is hosting the Spring Mountain Bike Festival, complete with trail building, guided rides and clinics along with free on-site bike tune-ups. This is free for all and is sure to be a good time. Get a massage after a good ride – it makes the good ride feel even better!
Finally – don’t forget that Sunday is April Fool’s Day. Plan your jokes and remember the day if anything out of the ordinary happens.
Then report back to us immediately! We love a good joke.

Husband gets Husband of the Year award this past week. Not only did I have computer-from-hell issues (corrupt files that basically ended said computer’s life), which involved him spending tens of hours getting a new computer up and running for me, but he spent an entire Saturday afternoon with me visiting an organic tulip farm.
